Greetings Beevillians and all those interested in Beeville! Its seems that we have a hard time communicating about things in our great town, so I started this blog in the hopes that we can have some constructive conversation, information sharing and community fellowship! I'll do my best to keep you updated on all things DOWNTOWN and any other tidbits of information that I can share.
Be on the lookout for a new marketing campaign and several new businesses moving to or starting up in the downtown area. Downtown is under some major construction, but sometimes you have to grin and bear it to reap the long-term positive outcomes...mainly no more flooding! We'll also be adding new sidewalks to St. Mary's Street and a few more areas around the downtown that will help to make it look much better!
Thank you to those who BELIEVE IN DOWNTOWN BEEVILLE!
More soon....

FLOWER BEDS
The flower beds seem to be a constant source of discussion, so here is the scoop:
1) The Tax Increment Finance Zone Board is reviewing a comprehensive landscaping plan for the downtown area. They have the money for this program, so they get to make the call. It will be managed by a PROFESSIONAL Landscape Architect who knows what she is doing!
2) Tx Dot is soon to have Washington Street torn up and it makes no sense to plant things in the beds only to have the run over with a dozer. They should wrap things up by July and we'll have new and improved drains, road and planters at the end of the project!
3) Main Street is always looking for volunteers! If you would like to organize a group of
community members to help tend to the beds between now and July it would be welcome! We'll welcome help when the beds are newly planted as well!
4) In the next few weeks, the beds will be cleaned out and soil conditioner will be added. It won't look great, but will help get us ready for the ultimate planting plan!
The moral of the story is that there is a plan...its just got a long timeline for completion! Thanks for understanding!
